About Henry Mueller
About The Artist
New Mixed Media Artist : Combining Tradional Fine Art Mediums With Digital Painting
I started drawing at a very early age and pursued painting with acrylics as a teenager. After graduating from college and pursuing living as an artist, I was instrumental in starting Boulder Arts & Crafts Cooperative. As a member of the co-op, I experimented with creating and selling a progression of arts and crafts: photography, leather, jewelry, batik, and finally watercolor painting. This launched my career as an artist, illustrator, and designer, and I continued to explore different painting mediums including airbrush, pastel, acrylic inks, and digital painting.
Throughout my career have had several one man shows, including The National Center for Atmospheric Research, The University of Colorado - Fiske Planetarium, The Boulder Public Library - Meadows Branch, and Boulder Arts & Crafts Cooperative. My work has been shown in regional exhibitions and has appeared in local and national publications, including a piece for Hooked On The Outdoors magazine where I illustrated an environmental impact article by Terry Tempest Williams.
My current work combines all my experience with different painting techniques to create my "new" mixed media images. I live in Colorado, within walking distance of nature trails, enjoying my passion for the environment and the creation of my art.
Artist Statement
I have dedicated much of my life to understanding the natural beauty of the world and how to embody it into art and design. As an artist, my goal is not just to create beautiful paintings but also to enlighten people about what's at stake with the rise of civilization and the resulting environmental impact. I am dedicated to living in harmony with nature and the study of sustainability.
My art work is done combining traditional fine art techniques with cutting edge digital art technology. I combine one or more of the following: pen & ink, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic painting, and photography. The final result is woven into a fabric of handcrafted images utilizing digital paint brushes and imaging techniques. I call this technique "new" mixed media.
